Leviticus is a weird book in the Bible. Many who diligently set off to read the entire Bible give up when they land on Leviticus.

But probably it comes from the wrong way of reading the book. First things first. You have to figure out the literary design of the book. What is the book addressing?

The clue is in the first verse:

“Now the Lord called to Moses, and spoke to him FROM the tabernacle of meeting.” Leviticus 1:1.

And the book starts. And then, at the beginning of the next book, we read:

“Now the Lord spoke to Moses in the Wilderness of Sinai, IN the tabernacle of meeting.” Numbers 1:1.

The prepositions changed. Meaning whatever is addressed in between worked. And that is, how unholy Israel could live in the presence of the Holy God.
