My Views On “The Chosen” Series

Bringing Bible characters to life
Recently, I had a conversation with a friend who abruptly asked me whether I had watched a series called The Chosen.
“No, I haven’t.”
“You should watch it. I think you will like it.”
I really don’t enjoy watching TV because I am trying to create things rather than consume all the entertainment that surrounds us….because we have all read these productivity articles and books.
Anyway, I check out the trailer on YouTube. I remember seeing the John 3:16 trailer, and I immediately like it. And as I am watching it, I read through the comments, and I see positive comments.
That’s when I looked for it, and I started watching it.
Oh my! I was in for a surprise.
Binging the Bible the entire day
The first thing I did was to check out the time of the first episode. 54 minutes. Well, I could handle that. These days, I naturally calculate how many articles I could write in that time rather than consume someone’s creations.
Anyway, I started watching that episode. That episode focuses on a woman and a tax collector, but mostly the woman. And some other guy. Okay, a bunch of people.
I will not spoil it. But at the end of the show, we learn it is Mary. We are not told which Mary. But then later we learn it is Mary Magdalene.
To be honest, it impressed me. And now, I have a different view concerning Mary. I see her in a fresh perspective. And in a relatable way.
Before I knew it, I spent the entire day binging the show. And moments of tears. That show brings you tears in a way!
I opened the Bible to see the chapters they were acting. If you don’t know the Bible, you might think they are forging things.
But I am this kind of person who spends a lot of time studying the Bible. Before I started watching the show, I had spent the previous 4 days going through the Bible doing some outlining. So when I watched this show, I watched it with an open Bible.
And what I really like is how they bring the characters they portray to life. When you watch it, you will…
